On September 25, 2009, regulation (EC) No 790/2009 amending EC-GHS regulation (No 1272/2008) on the classification and labelling of substances and mixtures came into force. With this regulation also the new classification of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) becomes effective, which is the main component of our removers AR 300-70 and AR 300-72. NMP is now classified as “reproductive toxicant“ and has to be labelled as follows:
T: Toxic
R 61: May cause harm to the unborn child.
R 36/37/38: Irritates the eyes, the respiratory system and the skin.
A reclassification of NMP was already announced in the 30 th and 31 st adaptation (ATP) to EC Directive 67/548/EWG, and Allresist therefore was able to search ahead of time for a solution to this problem. Allresist now offers a fully adequate alternative which is less dangerous to health and neither toxic nor toxic to reproduction:
N-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone (NEP) has, according to our investigations, a comparable and in some cases even higher solvency power than NMP for resist films. Due to the higher boiling point, heating of the remover is even less health-hazardous. Allresist now completely removed NMP-based products from the product range and replaced these products by NEP-based removers. The new designation of these removers is AR 300-70 (NEP) and 300-72 (NEP), respectively.
