In the presence of catalytic working iron salts, gelatine can be cross-linked photochemically in a negative process. A major advantage of these resists lies in their high environmental compatibility, since no organic solvents are required. The coated substrates are exposed and briefly swirled in diluted hydrogen peroxide solution which acts as cross-linking agent. Non-exposed areas can subsequently be rinsed off with warm water.
